neighborhood scramble

The guy down the hall from me has a birthday today.

I hopped on my bike and scooted out the door. I love just jumping on the bike, not needing any preparation. (Yes i have clipless, can't live without them, so i had my Keene bike shoes on.) The bike is finally starting to work pretty well. Every day i make a few more adjustments. Today i took apart the crankset, cleaned it, put the spacers in the right place and carefully put it back together, making sure every bolt was tight. I wanted to test it.

It rode really nice! The front shifting is almost dialed in. It's finally feeling good. I'm happy about that.

Riding through the neighborhood was fun. It's an active urban neighborhood and there were lots of people out. Some unfortunately in cars, but many happy people on the sidewalks and plenty of bikes.

I stopped at Cupcake Royale, i'd never been there, and bought a few cupcakes while chatting with the very pretty young woman behind the counter. Back out to the bike (it really does look good!) i couldn't just head home, so i went up towards the Park. The light rain was getting a little harder. It felt so good on my head, in my hair and on my face, but wasn't so great on my glasses.

I scampered through park, down a little hiking trail and out into the rich "Harvard-Belmont" neighborhood.

It felt great. Three miles on April third!
